Certek-backed Expansion: New CompEx Ex11 Mechanical Training Centre

Certek is pleased to announce that one of our portfolio companies, Cenelec Standards Inspections Ltd, is progressing with the launch of their brand-new CompEx Ex11 Mechanical Training Centre, scheduled to open in January 2026. Supported by Certek’s strategic investment and collaborative guidance, this initiative represents an important step in strengthening training capacity for hazardous area compliance professionals across high-risk sectors.

Construction of the dedicated training facility is already underway, building on Cenelec’s existing expertise in delivering CompEx-accredited courses. Bookings for the new Ex11 training modules will open from September 2025. Certek’s support for this project aligns with our commitment to enhancing specialist training infrastructure and developing critical expertise across the industry.

About the CompEx Ex11 Qualification

The CompEx Module Ex11 qualification equips mechanical operatives with the skills to safely install, inspect and maintain non-electrical (mechanical) equipment in hazardous environments, where gases, vapours, or dust may create potentially explosive atmospheres. The course combines practical assessments with an online multiple-choice exam, spread over a three-day programme.

What Delegates Can Expect

• Course Structure: A three-day course with blended learning through practical tasks and a digital exam.
• Assessment Format: Includes a 60-question online assessment covering CompEx units ExF and Ex11, alongside practical evaluations such as flange integrity testing and pump-set inspection.
• Key Competencies Developed: Graduates will gain a deep understanding of hazardous area classification, relevant standards and directives, safe equipment selection and maintenance, and correct installation practices.
